Born in the boogie-down Bronx, New York in the 70’s<\/p>\n
Went to a vocational technical high school to learn technical electronics and computer circuitry<\/p>\n
Was one of those guys at Radio Shack asking if you wanted a cell phone and what was your mailing address<\/p>\n
In the mid 90’s, moved from the fast paced life of NYC to the laid back life of Cape Cod, Massachusetts<\/p>\n
Realized that Cape Cod driving is like NYC driving since there are more NY and FL license plates than MA license plates in the summer (or it seems that way)<\/p>\n
Worked for Plymouth Savings Bank for a few years as a teller (yeah, a teller)<\/p>\n
Started my official IT career in 98, doing computer operator work at the Steamship Authority<\/p>\n
Left the bank and went to Kinko’s for a short stint as a “graphic designer”<\/p>\n
Left Kinko’s and stayed on with the Steamship Authority becoming a computer technician<\/p>\n
Took a job as a desktop technician at another bank, Rockland Trust Company<\/p>\n
Left them after Y2K was all clear<\/p>\n
Worked for the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution as a help desk technician (yes, the Titanic and Alvin guys)<\/p>\n
Left the Steamship Authority after 5 years total (yes I was still here while with the bank and oceanographic)<\/p>\n
Started my information security career at Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution<\/p>\n
Left the oceanographic after 4.75 years to do information security work for Massachusetts Department of Revenue<\/p>\n
They were right about the commute, left them to work for VeriSign doing security analyst work<\/p>\n
Graveyard work is tough (should have known better, did this at the Steamship Authority for 6 months)<\/p>\n
Left VeriSign and started working for Cape Cod Community College as an information security specialist<\/p>\n
Taught a semester of operating system essentials<\/p>\n
After 3 years, left to go back to Woods Hole… Woods Hole Research Center as a Linux System Administrator<\/p>\n
Did Linux and some Windows system administration and user support for all systems at the Research Center for about 7 years<\/p>\n
Left Woods Hole to do information security work at Cape Cod Healthcare.<\/p>\n
Information security and healthcare bring unique challenges.<\/p>\n
Got the nerve (in more than one way) to present at SecureWorld – twice!<\/p>\n
Left Cape Cod Healthcare after 8 years, but staying in the healthcare field.<\/p>\n
Could not pass up the opportunity to do information security work at Mass General Brigham.<\/p>\n
